Safaricom releases end of year results with revenue edging up by 12.92

Kenyan Stock Market
The NSE 20 and NASI index declined by 9.19 points and 1.97 points respectively to close at 5,074.76 and 171.52.
The highest market gainer for the second day running is Crown Berger gaining 9.52 percent to close at KES 138.00, Flame Tree emerged as the top loser, shedding 8.25 percent to close the day at KES 8.90.
The volume of shares traded rose by 48.99 percent to close at 38.33mn, total turnover also edged up by 56.72 percent to close at KES 1,327.44mn. Safaricom was the overall market mover with a turnover of KES 339.74mn representing 25.60 percent of total market turnover.
Safaricom Ltd released their end of year results ended 31 March 2015, with revenue edging up by 12.92 percent to KES 163.36bn, voice revenue contributing 54.00 percent, non-voice service revenue appreciated by 27.00 percent to KES 68.84bn in 2015. EBITDA rose by 16.82 percent to KES 71.2bn while net income increased by 38.44 percent to KES 31.87bn.
Foreign buys stood at 41.01 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 70.97 percent of total turnover.
EAC Markets
Uganda: The USE ALSI declined by 2.36 percent to close at 1,990.51 while the USE LSI remained constant to close at 325.62. A total of 2.69mn shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 96.12mn.
Rwanda: The RSE ALSI and RSE RSI declined by 0.70 and 0.15 respectively to close at 227.44 and 136.48. Total number of shares traded today was 1,700 shares. Total turnover come to a close of 587,900.
Tanzania: The DSEI rose by 0.71 percent to close at 2,731.95 while DSE TSI dipped by 0.11 percent to close at 4,722.58. African Barrick Gold was the top gainer of the day gaining 1.4 percent to close at TZS 8,450.CRDB Bank was the top loser declining by 1.2 percent each to close at 415.00.Total volumes were recorded at 9.21mn shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 3.85bn.
