Standard chartered Bank declines by 4.06 percent to emerge top loser of the day

The NSE 20 and NASI index declined by 21.34 points and 0.78 points respectively to close at 4,858.61 and 164.14. Sameer and Flame Tree edged up by 3.77 percent each to close at KES 5.50 and 8.25 respectively to become today’s top gainers. Standard chartered Bank emerged the top loser, declining by 4.06 percent to close the day at KES 307.00.

The volume of shares traded edged up by 0.02 percent to close at 19.51mn.Total turnover also gained 38.42 percent to close at KES 715.72mn. E.A Breweries was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 227.22mn representing 31.75 percent of total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 46.06 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 72.56 percent of total turnover.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI declined by 0.90 percent to close at 1,886.99 while USE LSI gained 0.01 percent to close at 324.35. A total of 15.75mn shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 526.59mn.

Rwanda: The RSE ALSI and RSE RSI remained constant to close at 224.43 and 136.13 repectively. Total number of shares traded today was 2.66mn shares. Total turnover come to a close of
771.51mn.

Tanzania: The DSEI and DSE TSI dropped by 0.23 percent and 0.11 Percent respectively to close at 2,723.12 and 4,702.52. Africa Barrick Gold was the top loser, declining by 1.19 percent to close at 9,110.00. Total volumes were recorded at 50,609 shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 107.94mn.
