BY · June 16, 2015 08:06 am

Today marks yet another happy moment for our Uganda subsidiary, Tuskys Uganda, with the reopening of a fully refurbished and modernized Bwaise branch.

The branch closed last year to allow for major reorganization and realignment to modern business requirements.

Today a new look Tuskys Bwaise will open its doors to the public at midday at the heart of Kampala city, the pear of Africa, the grand opening will be led by Tuskys Chief Operating Officer Peter Leparachao and Uganda Country Manager Hassan Ali.

The branch will have the famed and loved Tuskys deli, bakery and butchery. It will have enhanced fresh concept which has a bigger fruit section. The furniture and electronic section have been displayed in homely concepts to make our customers and partners feel special and the store is manned by young, well trained and friendly staff.

The opening of this branch brings our network of branches to 59, (52 in Kenya and 7 in Uganda), further confirming our leadership as the largest Retailer in East Africa, by size of network. Our other branches in Uganda are at NTINDA/MAKERERE/KITINTALE/NAKULABYE/BUGOLOBI/BWAISE and SEETA.

We started operations in Uganda in 2009. Since then, we have differentiated ourselves from other retailers by working to grow the local industry particularly manufacturing and agriculture. We buy from small suppliers in Uganda. Our customers have now come to identify themselves with our brand as an authentic Ugandan brand.

This Tuskys Bwaise branch will employ 100 young people in Uganda, bringing our total employee headcount in Uganda to 900. We shall continue to execute our steady expansion in East Africa, in line with our strategic plan.

We thank the Government of Uganda which has provided an enabling environment and the right stability for investment.

Dan Githua,
Chief Executive Officer.
