BY · July 17, 2015 08:07 am

Kenya is very rich with a wide range of investment opportunities that are viable for both local and international potential investors especially with the coming of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.

The financial sector is a world full of investment opportunities in Kenya. There are numerous monetary institutions in the country that are in dire need of investors. Kenya boasts of the mobile money transfer system that is one of a kind in East Africa and across borders.  This mobile sector is growing and still needs a lot of financing to cultivate innovation.

The tourism industry is one of the major investment opportunities that potential investors, both local and international might be interested in. In this sector of tourism alone, there are other opportunities underneath that are very viable and worth investing in.

There are opportunities such as conference tourism where one can start a conferencing business where people from across the world will convene at after parting with some cash.

There is also cultural tourism in this country and over the years, the Maasai community has been a major tourist attraction in terms of culture. There are many communities in Kenya that have a rich cultural history and if invested in, they can be used a major tourist attraction. A community like the Luhya especially from Ikolomani in Kakamega County has a famous culture of Bullfighting that has never been tapped for financial or tourist reasons.

Still on the tourism sector, Kenya does not have cruise ship tourism. This is an area that is open and profitable if invested in by knowledgeable investors. This industry will be based at the coastal region of Kenya which is also a major tourist destination in itself.

There is also the energy sector that is worth investing in. Kenya majorly deals in the oil sector and currently the business is handled by eight companies. The government of Kenya is in the process of privatizing this sector in an effort to reduce stringent regulations governing the sector in a bid to encourage more investors, both locally and internationally to invest. There is also the growing and largely young geothermal power sector that needs investors as a form of energy production too.

There is the telecommunication sector that is still growing and has amazing opportunities that are worth investing in. The government too is in the process of liberalizing and privatizing the sector of the information technology and telecommunication sectors. This is in an effort to pull more investors into the sector. There is also a lot of potential in the IT sector as well as software development.

The textile industry is also worth looking into. Currently the sector is on its knees since most involved companies collapsed and almost all the fabric that people wear is imported.

These are just but a few examples of investment opportunities in Kenya that are viable for both local and international investors.

These opportunities are on the way of receiving a major boost with the coming of the Global Entrepreneurs Summit to be held in Nairobi, where almost many potential investors are going to attend.

Kenyan investors will also be ready and willing to partner with other investors to exploit the opportunities in a bid to develop this great nation.
