Nakumatt Westgate Returns

Regional retailer, Nakumatt Holdings, will tomorrow morning, officially open the doors to its flagship retail store at the Westgate Shopping Mall.
The return to trade for Nakumatt Westgate Hypermarket from 10am, will also symbolically signify the official opening of Westgate Shopping Mall.
The new Nakumatt Westgate Hypermarket which has undergone extensive remodeling at a cost of more than Kshs 500million will now feature a departmental store model. Covering, a shopping floor space of more than 80,000 square feet on multiple levels, the new Nakumatt Westgate Hypermarket, will now be manned by a staffing force of more than 250 team members led by, Branch Manager, David Muturi.
Speaking when he confirmed the scheduled return to business, Nakumatt Holdings, Managing Director, Atul Shah, said the new Nakumatt Westgate Hypermarket, pushes the retailer’s regional branch network to 54 and will comprise 8 departmental stores.
The new departmental stores, include a taste fully appointed Nakumatt Select (private brand) home furnishings concept store and the new Kids&Co Flagship Toys store alongside the Clarks and Skechers Lifestyle footwear stores. At Westgate Mall, Nakumatt Holdings will also be piloting a Home&Décor, Home and Appliances, Food & Essentials and Sleep Centre Departmental Stores showcasing a variety of retail products.
“The return of Nakumatt Westgate, is a milestone for all of us on many fronts and we look forward to a brighter future,” Shah said. And added; “We are coming back to Westgate Shopping Mall rejuvenated with a fresh contemporary shopping experience.”
To celebrate the opening, the first 5,000 customers at Nakumatt Westgate, who spend more than Kshs 1500 at any of the departmental stores, will get a free gift from the lucky dip ranging from TV’s to mobile phones among other gifts. In addition, all Nakumatt Westgate shoppers will enjoy a 10% discount coupon, for every Kshs 3000 spent. The coupons, will in turn be redeemable at any of the Nakumatt Departmental stores at the Westgate Shopping Mall.
Having undergone a detailed remodeling, the new Nakumatt Westgate departmental stores now feature a new visual merchandising experience. The new Nakumatt supermarket store at Westgate Shopping Mall, also features a variety of energy saving equipment including food and beverage chillers, island freezers and in store ambient lighting systems.
Nakumatt’s, wholly owned, Multi Media retail services provider, Planet Media, will also be resuming operations at Westgate Mall with the reopening of six refurbished movie screens. The reopening of Planet Media Cinema Theatres at Westgate Shopping Mall, with a seating capacity of more than 965, will also coincide with the local premiere of the animated adventure movie Minions (2015) on 3D projection and surround digital sound.
Alongside Nakumatt, the anchor tenant at Westgate Shopping Mall, a number of local and international retailers are expected to progressively open their outlets going forward.
American restaurant chain Pizza Hut, will be opening its first Kenyan franchised outlet at Westgate Shopping Mall alongside other local players such as ArtCaffé, Dormans and Tapas among others.
