The NSE 20 gained 46.57 points to close at 4,532.28, NASI index declined 0.88 points to stand at 152.22. Kapchorua Tea went up 10.00 percent to KES 220.00 to emerge as the day’s top gainer. National Bank emerged the top loser, declining by 6.82 percent to close the day at KES 20.50.

The volume of shares traded rose 5.13 percent to close at 35.36mn. Total turnover shrank by 23.01 percent to close at KES 620.83mn. Safaricom was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 251.10mn representing 20.16 percent of the total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 58.41 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 63.13 percent of total turnover.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI dropped 0.45 percent to close at 1,885.13 while USE LSI went up 0.72 percent to close at 335.84. A total of 13,99mn shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 469.09mn.

Rwanda: The USE RSI and RSE ALSI declined 6.08 percent and 1.10 percent respectively to close at 196.52 and 142.824. Total number of shares traded today was 772,300 shares. Total turnover come to a close of RWF 230.91mn.

Tanzania: The DSEI declined 1.88 percent to close at 2,530.95 while DSE TSI gained 0.35 percent to close at 4,547.56. Africa Barrick Gold was the top loser of the day declining by 2.84 percent to close at TZS 7,520.00. Total volumes were recorded at 323,395 shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 171.32mn.
