Bamburi Cement Emerges Largest Mover of the Day

The NSE 20 and NASI index declined 71.38 points and 3.37 points respectively to close at 4,171.35 and 139.43. Uchumi gained 4.03 percent to KES 7.75 to emerge as the day’s top gainer. Atlas Development emerged the top loser, declining by 9.70 percent to close the day at KES 6.05.

The volume of shares traded went up by 14.24 percent to close at 17.94mn. Total turnover also shoved up 106.95 percent to close at KES 639.74mn. Bamburi Cement was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 152.59mn representing 23.85 percent of the total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 56.49 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 64.53 percent of total turnover.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI and USE LSI lost 5.50 percent and 0.94 percent respectively to close at 1,811.72 and 350.88. A total of 3.06mn shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 1.53bn.

Rwanda: The USE RSI and RSE ALSI dropped 0.75 percent and 0.22 percent respectively to close at 193.12 and 141.69. Total number of shares traded today was 3,000 shares. Total turnover come to a close of RWF 852,000.

Tanzania: The DSEI and DSE TSI declined 1.89 percent and 0.01 percent respectively to close at 2,500.17 and 4,588.39. Tanga Cement Company rose 1.32 percent to close at TZS 3,850.00 to become top gainer. Africa Barrick Gold shed off 4.16 percent to close at TZS 8,185.00 emerging as top loser. Total volumes were recorded at 1.19mn shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 994.80mn.
