Volume of Shares Traded Drops by 74.69 percent

Kenyan Stock Market

The NSE 20 and NASI index shed off 67.83 points and 3.26 points respectively to close at 4,337.47 and 146.40. Kapchorua Tea gained 9.63 percent to KES 293.00 to emerge as the day’s top gainer. Atlas Development emerged the top loser, declining by 9.62 percent to close the day at KES 7.05.

The volume of shares traded dropped by 74.69 percent to close at 14.51mn. Total turnover also declined by 85.94 percent to close at KES 291.54mn. Safaricom was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 99.88mn representing 34.26 percent of the total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 57.16 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 53.80 percent of total turnover

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI and USE LSI went up 0.13 percent and 1.29 percent respectively to close at 1,909.23 and 354.00. A total of 504,038 shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close
of UGX 27.34mn.

Rwanda: The USE RSI and RSE ALSI rose by 0.06 percent and 0.01 percent respectively to close at 193.32 and 141.84. Total number of shares traded today was 19,900 shares. Total turnover come to a close of RWF 5.68mn.

Tanzania: The DSEI and DSE TSI lost by 0.99 percent and 0.04 percent respectively to close at 2,554.13 and 4,594.01. Africa Barrick Gold rose by 0.23 percent to close at TZS 8,860.00 to become top gainer. National Micro Finance Bank dropped by 0.74 percent to close at TZS 2,700.00 emerging as top loser. Total volumes were recorded at 3.75mn shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 25.61mn.
