Car & General Emerges Day’s Top Gainer

NSE 20 share and NASI index rose 24.64 points and 1.12 points respectively to close at 4,234.66 and 147.58. Car & General gained 7.69 percent ending today’s session at KES 42.00 to emerge as the day’s top gainer. Express Kenya emerged the top loser, declining by 6.38 percent to close the day at KES 4.40.

The volume of shares traded rose 16.52 percent to close at 13.51mn. Total turnover went up 38.55 percent to close at KES 398.27mn. KCB Bank was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 98.13mn representing 24.64 percent of the total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 67.23 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 56.02 percent of total turnover.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI declined 0.22 percent to close at 1,937.39 while USE LSI edged up 0.20 percent to close at 353.01. A total of 1.88mn shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 1.04bn, an increment from the previous turnover.

Rwanda: The USE RSI and RSE ALSI remained constant to close at 189.44 and 141.36. Total turnover came in at RWF 67.39mn with 240,600 shares traded.

Tanzania: The DSEI lost 0.03 percent to close at 2,551.74 while DSE TSI rose 0.13 percent to close at 4,655.27. Swissport Tanzania was the day’s top gainer, gaining 0.66 percent to close at 7.600.00. Africa Barrick Gold declined 0.73 percent to close at 8,110.00 emerging as top loser. Total volumes were recorded at 51,922 shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 45.27mn.
