Umeme Declines 8.31 Percent to Emerge Day’s Top Loser

NSE 20 share declined by 2.11 percent to close at 4,217.78 while the NASI index rose 0.68 points to close at 146.19. Express Kenya gained 9.88 percent ending today’s session at KES 4.45 to emerge as the day’s top gainer. Umeme emerged the top loser, declining by 8.31 percent to close the day at KES 16.00.

The volume of shares traded declined 69.58 percent to close at 20.38mn. Total turnover dropped 53.48 percent to close at KES 537.19mn. Barclays was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 132.79mn representing 24.72 percent of the total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 86.50 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 60.22 percent of total turnover.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI and USE LSI edged up 1.10 percent and 0.18 percent respectively to close at 1,912.12 and 352.54. A total of 16.75mn shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 723.19, a 41.29 percent increment from the previous turnover.

Rwanda: The USE RSI and RSE ALSI lost 0.37 percent and 0.01 percent respectively to close at 190.39 and 141.38. Total turnover came in at RWF 423,000 with 6,400 shares traded.

Tanzania: The DSEI and DSE TSI rose 2.01 percent and 0.06 percent to close at 2,524.39 and 4,644.61. Swissport Tanzania was the day’s top gainer, gaining 0.67 percent to close at 7.500.00. Africa Barrick Gold declined 5.11 percent to close at 7,800.00 emerging as top loser. Total volumes were recorded at 114,912 shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 94.71mn.
