Umeme Emerges Top Loser of the Day

NSE 20 share and NASI index mounted 22.10 points and 0.53 points respectively to close at 4,216.83 and 145.64. Kapchorua gained 9.60 percent ending today’s session at KES 217.00 to emerge as the day’s top gainer. Umeme emerged the top loser, declining by 8.85 percent to close the day at KES 17.50.

The volume of shares traded rose 43.39 percent to close at 27.43mn. Total turnover dipped by 78.79 percent to close at KES 476.07mn. KCB Bank was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 104.56mn representing 21.96 percent of the total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 66.59 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 28.40 percent of total turnover.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI grew by 0.74 percent to close at 1,865.69 while USE LSI remained constant to close at 351.46. A total of 4.15mn shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 653.21mn.

Rwanda: The USE RSI and RSE ALSI remained constant to close at 191.09 and 141.39. Total number of shares traded today was 90,600 shares. Total turnover come to a close of RWF 25.61mn.

Tanzania: The DSEI declined by 0.43 percent to close at 2,487.29 while DSE TSI rose 0.06 percent to close at 4,653.32. CRDB Bank was the day’s top gainer, gaining 2.50 percent to close at 390.00. National Micro finance Bank declined 1.06 percent to close at 15,260.00 emerging as top loser. Total volumes were recorded at 89,830 shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 69.62mn.
