BAT Kenya Emerges Top Loser of the Day

The bourse saw a mixed performance with NSE 20 going up 7.39 points to close at 4,071.56 while NASI index declined 0.23 points to close at 142.70. Sasini gained 6.67 percent closing today’s session at KES 16.00 to emerge as the day’s top gainer. BAT Kenya was the top loser, declining 5.13 percent to close the day at KES 758.00.

The volume of shares traded soared to close at 46.79mn from 3.25mn shares traded yesterday. Total turnover also jumped to close at KES 1.73bn. Equity Group was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 568.88mn representing 32.88 percent of the total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 99.58 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 92.18 percent of total turnover. Foreign investors dominated the DTB stock by trading a huge block of 900,000 shares at a price of 202.00.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI and USE LSI dropped 0.11 percent and 0.60 percent respectively to close at 1,871.92 and 352.37. A total of 2.50mn shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close
of UGX 970.02mn, an increase from the previous turnover.

Rwanda: The USE RSI and RSE ALSI trended down, dropping 0.42 percent and 0.07 percent respectively to close at 184.42 and 135.27. Total turnover came in at RWF 101.34mn with 362,000 shares traded.

Tanzania: The DSEI and DSE TSI shed 0.12 percent and 0.26 percent respectively to close at 2,461.37 and 4,591.51. National Microfinance Bank declined 1.79 percent to close at TZS 2,750.00 emerging as top loser. Total volumes were recorded at 5.15mn shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 1.98bn.
