County Governments Embrace IFMIS

The use of Integrated Financial Management Information System IFMIS has increased tremendously in County Governments as the quest for better management of public finances gathers momentum.

IFMIS which was first rolled out to the National Government is now fast gaining currency in the County Assemblies Procurement and finance officials have embraced the system and are reporting improved efficiency in the management of the public funds.

The Counties initially faced challenges including lack of sufficient capacity but the situation has now changed as more and more counties now appreciates the capabilities and the functionalities of the IFMIS system. Officials from different counties have noted that the adoption of the IFMIS system has led to proper utilization of funds in the devolved units.

The IFMIS e-procurement system is the latest to be rolled out by IFMIS and the National Treasury and currently, both the National Government and the County Governments have embraced the system which they are using to enhance their financial managements.
