Employees of the Kenya Revenue Authority to undergo Lifestyle Audit

Employees of Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) will be taken through an audit of their lifestyle as part of efforts to try and stem out massive corruption in KRA that has led to the State losing billions of shillings.

This was a directive issued by President Uhuru Kenyatta and firmly directed the Treasury to speedily initiate the vetting plan citing that the integrity of the officials working in Kenya Revenue Authority is crucial for the growth of the nation.

The directive from the President comes after KRA failed to meet its revenue targets in the first quarter (July- September) of the current fiscal year that Treasury has partly blamed for the biting cash crisis in government even with some quarters claiming that the country might be broke and unable to finance itself though that has been vehemently refuted by the Cabinet Secretary in charge of the Treasury Henry Rotich.

The integrity of Kenya Revenue Authority officials has come into the concern of the public in the recent past as a biting cash crisis hit the government causing Members of Parliament to demand from Mr Rotich concrete measures aimed at reducing graft among tax officials.
