Equity Group Emerges Largest Mover of the Day

Kenyan Stock Market

NSE 20 and NASI index shaved off 12.79 points and 1.05 points respectively to close at 3,978.70 and 139.87. KenGen gained 19.88 percent closing today’s session at KES 9.95 to emerge as the day’s top gainer. Atlas Development was the top loser, declining 8.33 percent to close the day at KES 2.75.

The volume of shares traded went up 20.07 percent to close at 21.96mn. Total turnover also rose 1.34 percent to close at KES 552.01mn. Equity Group was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 260.65mn representing 47.22 percent of the total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 74.16 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 67.34 percent of total turnover. Foreign Investors sold 2,159,700 shares of Barclays at a high of 12.50 and a low of 12.05.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI declined 1.07 percent to close at 1,878.00 while USE LSI gained 0.31 percent to close at 357.30. A total of 4,476 shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 143,232, an increase from the previous turnover.

Rwanda: The USE RSI and RSE ALSI remained constant to close at 174.64 and 134.06. Total turnover came in at RWF 852,000 with 3,300 shares traded.

Tanzania: The DSEI dropped 0.70 percent to close at 2,390.72 while DSE TSI swelled 0.68 percent to close at 4,623.55. Dar es Salaam Community Bank led the gainers list, going up 2.63 percent to close at TZS 585.00. Tanzania Portland Cement declined 0.30 percent to close at TZS 3,340.00 emerging as top loser. Total volumes were recorded at 1.75mn shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 8.85bn.
