Liberty Kenya Holdings Emerges Top Loser of the Day

NSE 20 declined a further 25.85 percent to close at 3,991.49, levels last seen in 2012. NASI index dipped 0.95 points to close at 140.92. Sasini gained 5.28 percent closing today’s session at KES 16.95 to emerge as the day’s top gainer. Liberty Kenya Holdings was the top loser, declining 7.91 percent to close the day at KES 19.80.

The volume of shares traded rose 11.93 percent to close at 18.29mn. Total turnover also went up to close at KES 544.71mn. E.A. Breweries was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 115.97mn representing 21.29 percent of the total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 83.33 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 65.52 percent of total turnover

Uganda: The USE ALSI and USE LSI declined 0.09 percent and 0.81 percent respectively to close at 1,898.31 and 356.19. A total of 201,691 shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close
of UGX 74.11mn, an increase from the previous turnover.

Rwanda: The USE RSI and RSE ALSI remained constant to close at 174.64 and 134.06. Total turnover came in at RWF 852,000 with 3,300 shares traded.

Tanzania: The DSEI and DSE TSI declined 0.09 percent and 0.004 percent respectively to close at 2,407.52 and 4,592.28. Afrika Barrick Gold was the top gainer, increasing by 3.33 percent to close at TZS 7,130.00. Swissport Tanzania declined 0.14 percent to close at TZS 7,300.00 emerging as top loser. Total volumes were recorded at 5.75mn shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 2.10bn.
