TransCentury Emerges Top Loser of the Day

NSE 20 declined 2.47 points to close at 3,916.62 while NASI index edged up 0.67 points to close at 143.79. Olympia Capital edged up 6.74 percent to close at KES 4.75. TransCentury dropped 9.47 percent to close the day at KES 11.00, becoming today’s top loser.

The volume of shares traded today was 14.84mn, valued at KES 394.61mn up 25.72 percent from yesterday’s turnover. Safaricom was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 125.20mn representing 31.73 percent of the total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 57.27 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 81.11 percent of total turnover

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI edged up 0.80 percent to close at 1,790.27 while USE LSI remained constant to close at 370.33. A total of 47,055 shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 1.51mn.

Rwanda: The USE RSI and RSE ALSI remained constant to close at 164.37 and 132.78. Total turnover came in at RWF 143,200 with 600 shares traded.

Tanzania: The DSEI and DSE TSI gained 0.47 percent and 0.20 percent respectively to close at 2,347.34 and 4,674.97. Africa Barrick Gold rose 0.76 percent to stand at TZS 5,270.00 emerging as today’s top gainer. Dar es Salaam Community Bank declined 0.87 percent to end the day at TZS 570.00 to be the top loser. Total volumes were recorded at 2.60mn shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 1.42bn.
