Tuskys Wareng Cross Country: Nurturing Future Champions

A dream will always be a dream until you wake up and make it happen and that’s just what the Joram Kamau Tuskys Foundation did in Wareng last weekend on 22^nd of November 2015.

The Tuskys team has been on the road since Thursday with roadshows from Naivasha through to Eldoret where the event was taking place. During the stop-overs, crowd were awarded with gift hampers and got entertained by various artist including Rufftone and Mshamba.

The day started off well though there was a bit of rain which did not stop the participants from attending the event. The turn up was great considering the registration was free and people had adequate time to register before the event.

Being the home of Champions, the participant came from all walks of life and in all ages. The youngest participant was 4 years old while the oldest was 77 years old. The veteran and the children races highlighted how determined and dedicated the participants were.

The top 20 participants in all races were awarded with gifts and prizes from other sponsors who partnered with Tuskys Supermarket to make the event a success. Athletics Kenya too, was present in ensuring all the rules were adhered to.

This is the 11^th year the event is taking place since it’s inauguration in 2004 and according to Tuskys chairman John Kago the event will be expanded to other counties in the near future. The Tuskys Wareng Cross country is just the start of the Tuskys Athletics series.

The Governor of Uasin Gishu Hon. Jackson Mandago was among the guests who graced the occasion. He pointed out that the county government was working on a project that will help in nurturing athletic talent from a tender age and also try venturing in other sporting activities apart from athletics.

The Joram Kamau Tuskys Foundation is a way to address various social issues affecting the society through ways such as empowering the youth, providing education for the less fortunate and promoting youth entrepreneurship to help combat poverty, while renovating schools that are in bad condition.
