The festive season is here once again and celebrations are everywhere. People are graduating, others are getting engaged and being married, form four students have cleared high school and therefore they are in celebration, and above all, Jesus Christ’s birthday is just around the corner.

Many of us tend to spend too much during this month, forgetting that, come 2016, bills will have to be paid, children will be going back to school, the landlord will come for his rent, among many more needs that will have to be catered for.

Spend wisely during the December holidays so as to avoid straining yourself when January comes. After a whole year of working hard, this is the month when your boss will give you a break to go and be with your family. The money that you had saved so as to take your family for a holiday trip to the coast should be budgeted upon before the journey kicks off.

By saving and spending wisely, your holiday season doesn’t have to be stopped. First of all, before organizing any big party, ensure that you have a comprehensive plan in place to enable you know how each of your single coin will be used. Cut back on extras by avoid very expensive things that can be substituted by cheaper ones. This in a way will make you welcome the new year with celebrations rather than panic.

It is advisable to make a tight budget so as to avoid spending unnecessarily.   If one can be able to create a budget before the celebrations, it gives room for changes that can help you not to spend beyond your means. While making your budget, the most important things should be given priority, while those that can be done without can be considered in case the budgeted money remains.

Separate your holiday spending from regular day-today expenses and this can be done through tracking your expenditure. Ensure that you have kept a separate Christmas fund in a bank account. You can easily put yourself on track if you establish a budget and enter your real expenses just to be sure and to remain diligent.

Do not be caught up in the spending cycle during this holiday. Make a plan and know how to spend each coin so that you can still smile over your bank statement even after Christmas.  Remember that cheaper entertainment, focus on family and a reasonable spending plan are key things during this Holiday season.
