A Broader Look at Today’s Top Gainers, Losers and Movers at the NSE

British American Investments Company Limited carried the day today at the Nairobi Security Exchange (NSE) by posting a positive deviation of 9.68 percent at the price of 11.90 shillings per share.  At the NSE, there was a total demand of 705,900 for the British American Investments Company Limited while the company only managed to supply 249,900. The best bid for the company as at 3.00 PM was at 10.35 as the best asking stood at 11.90 shillings. This day, the company gained 1.05 shillings on its sell per share from its previous price of 10.85 shillings per share to 11.90 shillings per share. The total deals closed for the company stood at 46.

Express Limited came in as the second top gainer of the day with a closing price of 4.30 shillings per share and a positive deviation of 7.50 percent. There was a total demand of 2,600 for its shares and the total supply was 5,000 more than the demand with the best bid standing at 4.10 shillings per share. The company posted a gain of 0.30 shillings per share from the previous closing price of 4.00 shillings per share. The total number of deals closed for the day for Express limited were two.

Mumias Sugar Company and Standard Group Limited came in third and fourth respectively with 7.41 and 5.93 percent respectively. The total demand for Mumias Sugar stood at 1,597,100 while the company managed to supply 403,200. This price was an increase by 0.10 shillings per share. The total demand for Standard Group on the other hand was 3,300 with the company supplying 26,000 meaning the demand was lower than the supply. This is perhaps due to the recent financial turmoil that has been witnessed at the company. The total number of deals for Mumias Sugar was 38.

Trans-Century Limited closed the top five gainers of the day at the NSE by posting 4.81 percent at a price of 5.45 shillings per share. The company had a total demand of 318,800 but the supply was 433,000 with the total deals closing at five.

Crown Berger Ltd was the top loser of the day. The company posted a negative deviation of 8.06 percent at a price of 57.00 shillings per share. The total demand for the company was 3,900 while the total supply was 19,800 shares. The best bid for its shares was 56.00 shillings per share but closed at 57.00 shillings per share. The company posted a change of negative five (-5) with a total of two deals being closed today.

Olympia Capital Holdings Ltd was the second top loser of the day with 8.05 percent at a price of 4.00 shillings per share as shown in the table below:
