Death, Blood, Tears and Business Disruption During CORD Demos

There was sweat, tears, blood, death and business disruptions across the country on Monday during demonstrations by Coalition for Reforms and Democracy, CORD.
A total of three people died in different incidences on Monday as police and demonstrators engaged each other.
One person died in Kisumu as he was being taken to hospital with allegations that his head had bullet wounds.
At the same time, two people were shot dead in Siaya as the police shot to break demonstrations by CORD supporters.
In Kakamega, several people were admitted with bullet wounds as Senator for Kakamega Dr. Bony Khalwale was arrested during the demonstrations.
Mombasa was no different as the police fired teargas at CORD supporters led by the Governor for Mombasa Ali Hassan Joho.
Several people were injured and the police are again in the limelight for using live ammunition to thwart demonstrations by CORD.
In Nairobi, Kibera slums was a battlefield as police restrained CORD supporters from converging before matching to the Anniversary Towers in Nairobi Central Business District.
Unlike the first two Mondays, CORD leaders Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musioka could access the Anniversary Towers as the police were waiting for them.
The police used itching water, teargas and firing into the air as demonstrators succumbed for their safety.
Business were disrupted the whole day in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Kakamega And Bungoma during the demonstrations.
CORD wants the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to be disbanded as several quarters continue to question the credibility of the commission to hold the next General Election which is due to August 2017.
The government has maintained that the opposition must follow the law if it wants the IEBC commissioners removed.
CORD has maintained its stand that demonstrations will continue every Monday.
Well, Monday is soon getting a new name in Kenya. Some are calling it a Mourning Monday, some a Teargas Monday, some Shisha Smoking Monday and to some Black Monday.
