Foreign Investors Dominate Bourse

EQUITIES: Activity in the equities market increased slightly as turnover rose to Kes 670mn from Kes 634mn previously with 19mn shares traded. Foreign investors’ dominated the business as their total sales and total purchases accounted for 79% and 69% of the total turnover. Safaricom, Equity, KCB, Mumias and Co-op were the biggest movers. The NASI was up marginally to 146.33 points while the NSE 20 Share Index added 2.39 points to close the day at 3,880.81 points.

FIXED INCOME: The bonds market registered a drop in turnover to Kes 875mn from Kes 1.93bn yesterday with the number of deals transacted declining too to 13 from 20 before.
