Safaricom Foundation’s New Multi-Million Investment in Health Sector

Safaricom Foundation, the Corporate Social Investment arm of Safaricom Limited will tomorrow, Friday 6th May 2016, announce a multi-million funding towards increasing access to health care.

The funds will be used to benefit communities across the country with an emphasis on non-communicable diseases like cancers (breast, cervical and prostate).

According to the World Health organisation, the rise of non-communicable diseases in Kenya is more distinct than in the rest of Africa.

Deaths as a result of non-communicable diseases in Kenya rose by 44 percent between the year 2000 and 2012 against the East African rate of 26 percent.
