In June, the retail chain announced 800 internship positions and at the end of the application deadline, it had received 3,000 applications that it had advertised.

The internship programme which targets 1,600 is being undertaken in partnership with KCB Foundation.

KCB Foundation will invest in the training and up skilling of the 13,000 youths through established agricultural institutions.

Tuskys will on the other hand provide market for the farm produce in its 54 stores, making it one of the most fulfilling contract farming initiatives.

The identified agri-produce includes poultry products, milk, sweet potatoes, vegetables, beef, and honey, among others.

This is part of the Chain’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative that has so far transformed lives of over 700 interns, 90 per cent of which are now working in its 54 branches countrywide.
