Safaricom Partners with Craft Silicon to Launch Little Cab App to Rival Uber

Little Cab, a ride-hailing app was launched on Tuesday by Craft Silicon in Partnership with Safaricom Ltd, Kenya’s biggest telecoms operator Safaricom.

The app is projected to rival the already existing and expanding Uber.

Uber launched in Kenya early last year, with a debut in Nairobi. It has since expanded services to Mombasa and Thika.

Little Cab cars will offer free Wi-Fi to passengers, aim to provide cheaper fares than those of competitors and offer drivers a higher share of revenues.

Bob Collymore, CEO Safaricom, said,” The Launch of Little Cabs today powered by Safaricom Ltd will change the cab’s hailing landscape in Kenya.”

“Little Cab is a localized concept, 1500 drivers have already signed up,” he added.

Kamal Budhabhatti Craft Silicon CEO, ”Little Cab aims to turn Kenyan taxi drivers into entrepreneurs. Only a Kenyan company can achieve this.”

Initially, Little Cab would be available on Android and Windows phones and would be made available on iOS platforms soon, the company officials said.
