Dear Mr President, We Love You But For The Sake of our Economy

Dear Mr. President,
This is the second letter am writing to you Mr. President. I wrote you the first letter during the CORD-led IEBC demonstrations that led to destruction of property and loss of lives.
I don’t know whether you read that letter. I understand that you are a busy man for the running of a nation like Kenya is no small job. However, I hope and pray that you will find time and read this one. How I wish you had someone who reads these letters for you and then gives you the message.
Anyway, whether you will read or not, it is not my business. My business is to make sure that I deliver the message given to me by the people in the streets, those who sweat to eat but not eat to sweat, those who live below the poverty line but still struggle to pay taxes, those are the people who have asked me to write this letter to you.
First and foremost, Mr. President, receive greetings from the people in the streets. They say they are fine and doing well, hungry, emaciated but going strong and always making sure that they meet their tax returns deadlines.
The people down here love you Mr. President but they are worried for their economy. They are worried for the direction that the country is taking in terms of the economy.
The people down here are aware that the man at the helm of IPSOS, whom they can’t remember his name, has told you that people want you to rule on. What troubles them the most is whether that man got those statistics from Uganda or Kenya, because if it is in Kenya, then he did not ask the right Kenyans.
The recent State House visits by leaders from some regions is what is troubling the people in the streets Mr. President. The people in the streets are aware that you have received a delegation of leaders from Western Kenya especially from Bungoma County, from Machakos County and from Nyamira and Kisii Counties.
These people have come to you Mr. President, saying that you are the one who holds the key to developments and that it is only through taking tea at your House on the Hill, that they will have a feel of the goodies whose keys you hold.
Some have said that they have told you to build for them roads, some like those from Western Kenya have said that they have pleaded with you to revive their ailing factories while some like those from Ukambani have said that you have promised them water and hospitals. Is that true Mr. President? Are you really going to do all those things asked by these people? Do you really have all that money or are you going to demand it from the people in the streets? Is it a must that these people come to dine at State House for the developments mentioned above to be realized in their regions?
What is more worrying Mr. President is what is the fate of those who have refused to come and have a cup of tea at your house? The people in the streets are aware that those from the larger Luo Nyanza region have not come at State House. Does that mean that they will not receive the roads, water, hospitals as well as the reviving of their industries? The people in the streets know this and they know what is cooking.
Mr. President, do you know that those leaders who have come at State House pretending to be representing the people in the streets only came there to satisfy their own personal agendas? Do you know that they think that by coming to State House and eating, the men in the streets get filled through osmosis? I know you don’t know that but if you read this letter you will know.
Another thing Mr President, your silence on what is going on in terms of corruption is actually amazing. I know you will say that there are other constitutional bodies that are mandated to handle cases of corruption. But do you know that the same bodies mandated to fight corruption are the sole beneficiaries of the same corrupt deals? For instance, are you aware that the Chair of Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Mr. Philip Kinisu, is accused of having received 200 million shillings from National Youth Service, the same body he is supposed to be investigating? And did you know that Mr. Kinisu was summoned by Mr Ndegwa Muhoro to go and shed light into the matter while at the same time, Mr. Kinisu is supposed to summon Mr. Muhoro for some investigation into a land saga? And perhaps you are also not aware that Mr. Mubea, the deputy chair at EACC is also said to have been paid more than 50 million to abandon investigations into the NYS saga. If you did not know all these, know that the people in the streets know.
Read: Dear Mr President,
Mr President, you are the captain of this country. You are the President. That fact will never change. Generations to come will be reading about you as the fourth President of the Republic of Kenya. I know that deep within you, you know what is happening. Cartels and bandits are running this country. I know you know that the former Chief Justice Dr. Willy Mutunga confirmed this. In fact, he said that fighting these cartels was the same as committing suicide for you will either be killed or be forced into exile. Someone said that other counties have the Mafia but in Kenya, the Mafia have the country and I agree with him.
The fact that the people around you are looting, abusing power and threatening to bring the economy of this country down and you are silent about it, makes us to worry. We are worried and scared to the core. Campaigns for the next year’s General Elections have already kicked off and we know that you will soon also be very busy seeking second term in office, but we ask of you to consider all that has been articulated in this latter.
Mr. President, I would have loved to write on and on, for I have a lot to tell you, but again, I don’t know whether you will read. I beg to stop there. It is getting dark and as you know, fuel prices went up last month and I have to use the moonlight to find a place to sleep.
Thank you Mr. President,
Yours faithfully,
The Messenger From The Streets
