Bourse Closes in the Red on Tuesday

On Tuesday’s trading session, the bourse was characterized by negative drifts on the indices and as portrayed by the value of transactions.
The NSE-20 share index lost ground by 0.38 percent to close at 3282.64 points while the NSE All Share Index declined slightly by 0.32 percent to perch at 137.71 points. Equity turnover and market capitalization closed on the red, as the former decreased by 16.92 percent to close at 0.564 billion shillings and the latter losing 0.32 percent to close at 1,983.26 billion shillings.
The A/D ratio closed at 1.0x from 2.9x. KCB Bank Ltd (NSE: KCB) and Oracle, a global technology giant have signed a deal to develop new solutions that will drive the lender’s digital banking agenda of the future.
The companies hosted a team of over 200 technology developers drawn from across Africa in a challenge aimed at creating cutting edge solutions for the bank. This move portrays how the bank intends to invest in technology to adapt to the new operating environment after the interest rate bill was signed into law.

Liberty Kenya Holdings Ltd (NSE: CFCI) was the most actively traded stock today accounting for 34.60 percent of the total market value traded activity. Safaricom Ltd (NSE: SCOM) also registered high levels of activity, accounting for 30.56 percent of the total market turnover.

The foreign investors accounted for 68.21 percent of total turnover against 31.79 percent of local participation. Accumulative activities took center-stage, resulting in net inflows worth 97.25 million shillings relative to net inflows worth 94.81 million shillings on Monday.
Safaricom Limited (NSE: SCOM) which recorded a turnover of 165.25 billion shillings representing 29.30 percent of total activity and 42.95 percent of foreign investor activity, followed by Liberty Kenya Holdings Limited (NSE: CCFCI) was the day’s highest traded stock, recording a turnover of 97.52 million shillings to account for 17.29 percent of total market activity and 25.35 percent of foreign investor activity. Liberty Kenya Holdings Limited (NSE: CFCI) posted the day’s highest net inflows worth 97.52 million shillings and the day’s highest net outflows, worth 3.89 million shillings were posted by Diamond Trust Bank Kenya Limited (NSE: DTB).
