​Kenya to Leverage on the Modern Airports Africa Forum as a travel Destination

Kenya is set to use the 2-days Modern Airports Africa conference to highlight why it’s a choice travel destination, with Kenya having invested heavily in airports expansion to improve passenger capacity and airline access.

The conference organized by the International Quality and Productivity Centre (IQPC) will beginonWednesday focusing on the modernizing the airports in Africa themed, ‘Unlocking Africa’s Aviation Potential’ bringing together major stakeholders in the aviation industry including government and authorities, civil aviation authorities, airport authorities, contractors, technology providers, suppliers of airport equipment, consultants and more to discuss their biggest challenges and debate best-practice methodologies.

“It is without a doubt that the African aviation industry is experiencing an incredible surge with business activities rising from 45 percent to 80 percent. Countries spanning East and West Africa including Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Ghana and Nigeria are spending millions in a bid to become the hub of choice for the continent,” according to Summaya Badbess, Conference Director IQPC Middle East and Africa.

Africa’s major airport projects include: Kenya’s Ksh. 5.6 billion Malindi Airport Expansion, Ethiopia’s New Addis Ababa International Airport, Bole International Airport Expansion and Ethiopian Airports.

Enterprise (EAE) medium airport expansions

Tanzania’s Tabora Airport Expansion and Rehabilitation, Uganda’s Uganda – Entebbe International Airport Expansion, Rwanda’s Kigali International Airport Upgrade.

Nigeria’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and South Africa’s Cape Town International Airport Terminal Expansions.

Key speakers include: Najib Balala, Cabinet Secretary (Minister), Ministry of Tourism, Irungu Nyakera, Principal Secretary, State Department for Transport, Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, Capt. Gilbert Kibe, Director General, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority among others.
