AlcoBlow is Illegal, Declares Court of Appeal

BY Soko Directory Team · April 7, 2017 01:04 pm

The Court of Appeal has declared the invasive use of the AlcoBlow breathalyzer to arrest drunk drivers illegal.

The decision that was made by a three judge bench that the laws introduce by NTSA is inconsistent with the Traffic Act and is to be taken back to Parliament for review.

This has seen mixed reactions from Kenyans considering that the AlcoBlow law and other measures were implemented to control the skyrocketing road carnage which was highly blamed on drunk driving.

Most Kenyans are for the illegalization of the AlcoBlow law claiming that most traffic officers misuse this law just to get some quick cash from the citizens because a drunk driver is never taken to court as it should be.

Others claim that the AlcoBlow gadgets don’t work, they are just hearsay and most drivers get frustrated by traffic officers for nothing

“AlcoBlow stopped, so let the drunk idiotic drivers kill people ama logic ni?” this is a reaction made by a Kenyan citizen who doesn’t go the illegalization of the Alco blow law.

With this law being declared illegal does it mean that for one to be charged for drunk driving He/she must be confirmed drunk by the doctor?

The pressing question remains, will the illegalization of the AlcoBlow law bring some serious setbacks in the war against drunk driving and road carnages?
