Market Turnover at the Bourse Drops By 53.21 Pc on Wednesday

The market turnover at the Nairobi Security Exchange was down 53.21 percent to 512.93 million shillings with the indices trending North. The NASI gained 1.93 percent to 143.48, NSE-20 rallied 1.79 percent to 3376.58 from the previous session.

Safaricom Ltd accounted for 24.8 percent of the market activity as the highest mover of the day, with foreign and local investors pushing the price upwards (+2.4%). Centum Investment Co Plc. (NSE: ICDC) was back on the movers’ list moving shares worth 28.35 million shillings on unchanged price.

Foreign activity, on the other hand, reduced to 47.08 percent from the previous session. Safaricom Ltd accounted for 52.7 percent of foreign trades.  KCB Group recorded the highest net foreign inflows amounting to 9.04 million shillings. East Africa Breweries logged the highest net outflows with foreign investors holding onto the sell-side for the fifth session in a row.

Nation Media Group gained 4.5 percent in the session to close at 116 shillings reversing losses made previously (-0.9%). There was an interest pick up in Kenya Airways and Equity Group Holdings ahead of their results release. KQ touched a high of 7.00 shillings in the day as Equity hit 38.75 shillings.
