Dear Kenyan Politicians, we know your promises

BY Juma · June 7, 2017 06:06 am

Dear Kenyan politicians, this is an open letter to you. Though you are too busy consulting some supernatural powers so that you can gain the power to sway our puny brains, I hope you will find the time and read this.

I have observed you, traversing the country, like hungry and wounded wolves ready to snatch votes from the warthog-like Kenyans. I have observed you unleashing old fashioned but sugar-coated promises to gullible Kenyans promises that you know that even our poor country cannot afford.

You promised us a free primary education in the year 2002. We clapped and danced for you. When the time came, you indeed gave us the free primary education but it was free indeed, free of knowledge. Now, our children in public primary school gather more mediocrity than education and they are more ignorant that they used to be prior to the free primary education.

You are now promising us free secondary education. Let me tell you, we are worried to the core. The free primary education program has defeated you from managing and now you want to extend the same confusion, foolishness, and mediocrity to secondary schools.

Most Kenyans who had eyes but never used to see are now seeing and those who had ears and never knew their role are now hearing loud and clear. That is why we now know that when the forest changes, the monkeys remain the same and if they change, they are just monkeys within the same monkeys.

We now know your promises. We know that your work is to promise but delivery is up to us to imagine. Do you remember promising us am an electric train through the Standard Gauge Railway? What did you deliver? A diesel powered locomotive. And what did you tell us? This is the best, greatest, amazing project ever witnessed in both East and Central Africa. What did we do when you told that? Some of us clapped and cheered you up but for is who know the truth, we know that you gave us a raw deal.

Some of you are walking around calling yourselves saviors of Kenya. You have called yourselves biblical names (Joshua, Caleb, and Aaron). That you want to take us to Canaan but in reality, you want to take us from Egypt to the desert and abandon us there. We know you. Tell us, what will you do differently? Convince us that we are in Egypt. That you will bring the skyrocketing house tents down. How?

Some of you have been tested for the first five years. People voted for you. You formed the government. Want did you too? You embarked on the massive looting of public resources. You looted openly as we watched. You looted public coffers dry and now every Kenyan, even the unborn has debts to pay. Now you are telling us, you have delivered and you need another five-year term to continue with the good work. Seriously? Really? Continue with the good work?

Some of you have been County Governors. Do you think that we don’t know you? You have stolen from us day and night. You isolated us in employment opportunities and employed your wives, children, and relatives. You bought yourselves big cars and lived behind guarded walls. Now you are out telling us how you have worked. How? Do you think that all Kenyans are fools? I admit some are fools but if you think all of them are, think twice because you are mistaken.

Dear Kenyans, are still going to vote along tribal lines? Are you still going to vote for the ‘he is a thief but he is our thief’ mentality? When will you ever start voting to base on policy? When will you ever start judging politicians along integrity issues? August 8th is coming. You have been given a blank check. What are you going to fill in?
