Kenyan Shilling Weakens Against the US Dollar, Sterling Pound and the Euro

The Kenyan shillings has maintained its weakening trend against the US Dollar, the Sterling Pound and against the Euro for the fourth day running.

The shillings weakened against the US Dollar by 0.9 percent on a year-to-date basis. Against the Sterling Pound, the Kenyan Shilling weakened by 5.1 percent on a year-to-date basis while against the Euro, the Kenyan Shilling weakened 8.3 percent on a year-to-date basis.

On the Kenyan Stock Market, the market turnover at the bourse went up 3.6 percent to USD 9.4 million or an equivalent of 966.7 million shillings from Tuesday’s trading.

The NSE 20 gained 0.56 percent to close at 3,506.90 while NASI Index lost 0.58 percent to close at 152.05 while foreign investors assumed a net selling position by accounting for 79.6 percent of total market sales and 65.7 percent of total market purchases.
