Six arrested over electoral malpractice

Six people have been arrested over election malpractices in various Kenyan towns.
In Elgeyo Marakwet, Silas Rotich a county official was arrested for allegedly bribing voters. He has been locked at Iten police station.

In Kitui, Gitonga Nkuda was beatun up by voters for allegedly buying voters in Tharaka . In Changamwe, an electoral official was arrested for issuing double ballot papers to a section of the voters.
On the other hand, the IEBC replaced its Presiding Officer in Embakasi East, Kasarani and Westlands(Nairobi) for delaying to commence the voting process.

” In Some polling stations in Embakasi East, Kasarani and Westlands we have experienced delayed opening. We have immediately replaced the returning officers in these three constituencies and deployed Commissioners to ensure efficient management of these locations,” said Wafula Chebukati in a media briefing.

An IEBC clerk who had initially stamped ballot papers was also replaced.

” We have dedicated the following hotlines for any voter that has questions or is facing challenges at the polling station. You may call the toll free hotlines 1527, 1537, 1538, and 1539 to raise any concerns with our IEBC officers. Please note that these numbers are free of charge from any network,” said Chebukati.
