Kenya is set to have three million more customers added to the national grid by the year 2020 according to the report released by Kenya Electricity Generating Company Limited.

According to the stats by KenGen, the country’s electricity connection stands at 6.18 million customers from 2.33 million customers way back in 2012.

“Profit after Tax grew by 34 percent to 9.1 billion shillings demonstrating resilience to grow and sustain our business,” stated a statement from KenGen. The company also realized the issuance of the balance to Public Investment Corporation of South Africa which raised 2.3 billion shillings.

Operating expenses increased by 8 percent from 2016 as a result of continued investment in power capacity expansion.
