The Kenya Diaspora Alliance (KDA) is to host the 4thedition of the Kenya Diaspora Homecoming Convention (KDHC), the country’s premier diaspora event.

Building on the success of past events, this year’s convention will revolve around the theme of  Knowledge Management and Youth Engagement and will focus on showcasing investment opportunities in Kenya while nurturing and fostering investor confidence; at the same time offering a platform for stakeholders to converge, network, transact and share success stories from across the globe.

KDHC-2017 will feature a series of smaller meetings; focusing on various pertinent topics, key among them investments, public-private partnerships, youth engagement, and governance. Focal business areas will include, environmental & waste management, renewable energy, Agri-business, infrastructure, real estate, and IT-enabled services (ITES). Opportunities at the national and county government levels will also be on display.

Speaking during the launch of KDHC-2017, Kenya Diaspora Alliance (KDA)’s Global Chair Dr. Shem Ochuodho noted that over the years, diaspora remittance back to the country has grown in leaps and bounds, signaling that more Kenyans living in the diaspora are confident about investing back in the country.

“For a globally distributed entity that remits over KES200 Billion annually, the Kenyan diaspora is a huge untapped goldmine and game-changer, whose time to mainstream into the national socio-economic fabric cannot wait any longer. KDHC-2017 offers an ideal opportunity for stakeholders to converge, discuss, network, transact and share success stories from across the globe.”

Local Organizing Committee Chair Dr. Abdulmalik Gichuki, a Past President of the Federation of African Architects called upon stakeholders to plan to be part of this transformative event. He reiterated the global clout of the Kenyan diaspora and affirmed that 50 local and foreign exhibitors and over 1,000 attendees are expected.

This year’s keynote speakers will include Korea’s leading nuclear energy expert and Ghanaian immediate Former Minister of Industry and Trade
