Nairobi residents will not be able to use the commuter train from Saturday according to the Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC).

In a public notice published Friday, the corporation said commuter services will resume on January 2.

“We wish to notify you that the Nairobi commuter train (Kikuyu, Embakasi, Ruiru, and Syokimau) will not run as from December 23, 2017 and will resume on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.

However, “The SGR link will remain open”.

Further, KRC said “The Madaraka Express train schedule will not be adjusted from January”.

Earlier, it had issued a suspension notice for all Madaraka Express bookings that had been scheduled for January 2018.

“Daily departures of the inter county and express train from Nairobi are 8am and 2:30pm respectively while departures from Mombasa 7:15am and 3:15pm respectively.”
