Uchumi Supermarket Top Gainer at NSE Despite the Challenges

Uchumi Supermarket emerged as the top gainer of the day on Monday days after announcing a restocking plan for most of its branches.

The retailer gained 8.43 percent at the price of 4.50 shillings per share. It was followed by Eveready East Africa with a gain of 6.38 percent at the price of 2.50 shillings per share.

Sasini Tea and Coffee and Nairobi Business Ventures gained 3.70 and 3.23 percent respectively while Kenya Airways gained 2.49 percent at the price of 18.50 shillings per share.

The top loser of the day was East African Portland Cement with 9.77 percent at the price of 30.00 shillings per share.

Sameer Africa and Umeme lost 6.90 and 6.67 percent respectively at the price of 2.70 and 12.60 shillings per share respectively.

Stanlib Fahari Income-REIT and CIC Insurance Group lost 6.54 and 5.17 percent respectively at the price of 10.00 and 5.50 shillings per share respectively.

The top mover of the day was Safaricom Limited. The telecommunication company has been holding the position since the beginning of last week.

Safaricom posted a volume of 7.47 million shares followed by Uchumi Supermarket and Mumias Sugar Company with 1.60 million and 683,500 shares respectively.

Carbacid Investments and Liberty Kenya posted 498,100 and 393,300 shares respectively.
