Shilling Gains Traction Against the US Dollar and the Euro

Kenyan Shilling

The Kenyan shilling gained traction against the US Dollar and the Euro on Thursday but slightly weakened against the Sterling Pound.

The shilling strengthened against the US Dollar by 0.14 percent from Wednesday’s level to 102.89 shillings.

Against the Euro, the Kenyan Shilling further strengthened by 0.05 percent from Wednesday’s level to 125.72.

Against the Sterling Pound, the Kenyan Shilling weakened by 0.10 percent from Wednesday’s level to 141.93.

Kenyan Stock Market

The market turnover at the bourse declined 3.8 percent to USD 9.86 million or an equivalent of 1,014.8 million shillings from Wednesday’s trading.

NSE 20 and NASI gained 0.21 percent and 0.46 percent to close at 3,705.97 and 178.49 respectively.

Foreign investors assumed a net buying position by accounting for 66.1 percent of total market purchases and 51.0 percent of total market sales.

EAC Markets   

In Rwanda, the RSI and RASI held constant at 134.97 and 133.42 respectively while in Uganda, the USE ALSI declined 0.08 percent to close at 2,015.65 while USE LSI gained 0.88 percent to close at 392.84.
