Supply of Green Maize Declines in Most Parts of the Country

The supply of green maize has gone down across the country as the dry season continues to bite slightly pushing up the retailing prices.

The 115-kilogram bag of green maize is retailing highest in Mombasa at 4,000 shillings while Nakuru has the lowest market price of 1,500 shillings.

A 90-kilogram bag of dry maize, on the other hand, is being sold as follows in selected markets: 3,600 shillings in Kisumu, 3,100 shillings in Kitui, 3,000 shillings in Nairobi, 2,800 shillings in Mombasa, 2,500 shillings in Eldoret and Nakuru respectively and 2,400 shillings in Kitale.

A 90-kilogram bag of Rosecococ Beans is being sold as follows: 7,650 shillings in Eldoret, 7,600 shillings in Kisumu, 7,200 shillings in Nairobi, Nakuru and Kitui respectively, 5,800 shillings in Kitale and 5,500 shillings in Mombasa.

A 110-kilogram bag of Groundnuts has the following market prices: 14,300 shillings in Kitale, 12,200 shillings in Nairobi, 12,100 shillings in Mombasa, 12,000 shillings in Nakuru, 11,250 shillings in Eldoret, 10,800 shillings in Kitui and 10,000 shillings in Kisumu.

Fresh Peas, on the other hand, was being sold highest in Mombasa at 4,900 shillings and lowest in Kisumu at 2,500 shillings.
