Telkom’s T-kash given a Green light By the Central Bank of Kenya

Telkom Kenya’s newly launched T-kash platform has received a go-ahead from the Central Bank of Kenya.

The CBK has announced the authorization of Telkom to conduct business as a Payment Service Provider in Kenya.

“The Authorization is issued pursuant to the provisions of the National Payment System (NPS) Act, (No. 39 of 2011) and the National Payment System (NPS) Regulations, 2014 following the fulfillment of the stipulated authorization requirements. Telkom Kenya Limited is a limited liability company incorporated in Kenya on April 3, 1997,” read the statement from CBK.

On Monday, the telecommunications company launched its mobile financial service that was aimed at offering its customers a wide range of cross-functional solutions both for individual consumer and enterprise market.

“The entry of Telkom Kenya Limited in the Mobile Financial Services space will provide alternative choices to Kenyans as well as enhance competition and innovation in the provision of Digital Financial Services. Telkom Kenya Limited is the third company authorized as a PSP, after Safaricom PLC and Airtel Networks Kenya Limited,” added a statement from the CBK.
