Commodities in Isiolo Trading Higher than Other Towns

Isiolo town holds the highest market prices for a number of different commodities compared to other towns in the country.

This can as a result of the dry climatic conditions in the area which forces retailers to travel to other towns, which in turn leads to increased prices.

Sorghum is currently retailing at an average market price of 4,153 shillings in selected towns across the country with the highest market price piece being 6,300 shillings while the lowest price stands at 2,700 shillings.

A 90 kilogram of Sorghum is being sold at 5,400 shillings in Kitale, 4,500 shillings in Nairobi and Isiolo respectively, 4,200 shillings in Kisumu, and 3,100 shillings in Nakuru.

The table below gives a summary of the same:

A 110-kilogram bag of Groundnuts is being sold averagely at 12,386 shillings. With prices being as follows: 16.500 shillings in Isiolo, 14,300 shillings in Kitale, 12,150 shillings in Eldoret, 11,550 shillings in Mombasa, 11,200 shillings in Nairobi and 11,000 shillings in Nakuru.

A 51-kilogram bag of Fresh peas is also available in the market with the following prices in selected towns: 7,650 shillings in Isiolo, 6,000 shillings in Nakuru and Kitale respectively, 5,150 shillings in Mombasa, 4,080 shillings in Nairobi and 3,060 shillings in Eldoret.

Both Rosecoco and Mwitemania beans have almost the same prices in selected towns for a 90-kilogram bag as shown in the table below:
