Curtains Fall for the Second Liberation Hero, Matiba

One of the fathers of Kenya’s second liberation, Kenneth Matiba, has taken the final bow at Karen Hospital. Matiba passed away on Sunday at the age of 85 after being hospitalized for two months.

Kenneth Matiba will be remembered having been at the forefront of fighting for multiparty in Kenya in 1992 that led to the repealing of Section 2A of the then Kenyan Constitution to allow the formation of other political parties.

In the general elections of 1992, Matiba is believed to have won the presidential elections but rigged out and later jailed by the then Kenya’s strongman, Daniel Toroitich Moi.

Presdent Uhuru Kenyatta has eulogized the fallen veteran politician as a hero and a man who served his country with distinction.

As it is the norm of Kenyan leaders, Matiba will be honored money in his death than when he was still alive.
