Former U.S First Lady, Barbara Bush Dead at 92

Barbara Bush, the U.S former first lady of George H.W, Bush, died on April 17 according to an announcement made by the office of George H.W. Bush.

Barbara, who died at 92 was the second woman in the history of the USA to be a first lady and mother of a president.

According to previous statements made on April 14, Barbara has chosen not to seek medical attention but insisted on comfort and care at home for unspecified health complications. She is survived by her husband of 73 years.

“The world is poorer without her in it,” Bush family reacted to her death.

“My dear mother has passed on at age 92. Laura, Barbara, Jenna, and I are sad, but our souls are settled because we know hers was. Barbara Bush was a fabulous First Lady and a woman unlike any other who brought levity, love, and literacy to millions,” former president George W. Bush wrote in a statement Tuesday night.

The former first lady was born Barbara Pierce in Rye, New York, near the Connecticut border in 1925. She married George Herbert Walker Bush on January 6, 1945, a man she had met while she was 16 at a school dance in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Barbara leaves behind a legacy worth emulating. She spent most of her life in public service, but she never hesitated from her belief that being a wife and mother was her greatest contribution to society.

Regardless of her perpetual devotion to the Republican party, she was not afraid to hit back and defend her family when then-candidate Donald Trump went after her son, Jeb, who was also seeking the Republican nomination. She expressly noted her disbelief about some of the things then-candidate Trump had said about women.

Public members are invited to pay their respects on April 20 as Barbara Bush lay in repose between 12 p.m. and midnight at St. Martin’s Church in Houston. This is according to the official funeral announcement by the family. The funeral service is by invite only.
