After 20 Years in the Cold, France Strikes Again

After 20 years of only coveting the World Cup finals, France struck again, this time carrying the 2018 World Cup trophy home.

In a much-thrilling match played on Sunday, France clobbered the much-talked-about Croatia 4 stunning goals to 2 in a match that will go down in history as the match that registered an own goal in the history of World Cup finals.

Croatia also went down in history as the smallest country to have ever reached the World Cup finals since 1950 when Uruguay was beaten by Brazil.

According to many football lovers, the 2018 World Cup was the most unpredictable tournament with the teams that were never thought they would advance in stages sailing through.

Russia, for instance, sailed through the tournament, going down in history as the first team to go that far without having been qualified for the tournament.

The defending champions, Germany, were eliminated in the group stages with England, which had been predicted by many that it would be the one hitting the finals being send off the championship by Croatia.

Most Kenyans were rooting for France and majority of them were referring to it as the only ‘African team’ that had remained at the World because of its huge populations of the ‘sons of the continent’.

Both DStv and GOtv had the opportunity to watch all the 64 matches. Throughout the tournament. As the World Cup now moves behind our back, the question still remains: will any African team ever reach the World Cup finals? More so, will Kenya ever qualify for the World Cup? Well, only time will tell.
