American Jazz Artistes to Grace Safaricom’s Jazz 2018/19 Season

American jazz artists, Dianne Reeves and Marcus Miller are expected to treat their fans on the 2018/19 Season of Safaricom Jazz following confirmation.

Dianne Reeves, known for her beautiful voice and timeless songs including “better days”, is scheduled to perform from 18th to 20th of October 2018 at the Safaricom Jazz Lounge. Dianne, who is one of the most pre-eminent jazz vocalists in the World, received the Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Performance for the consecutive recordings.

This will be her first to Kenya to perform at the event which leads to the Safaricom International Jazz Festival that takes place in February.

Two-time Grammy award winner Marcus Miller will grace the stage at the Safaricom International Jazz Festival scheduled from 11th to 17th February 2019. Miller has been at the top of his game for more than 3 decades and prides of the 2013 Edison Award for Lifetime Achievement in Jazz (Holland), winner of the 2010 Victoire du Jazz (France) and was appointed a UNESCO Artist for Peace in 2013.

He is known for his legendary music, multi-instrumentalist skills and as a bass guitarist.

“We are honored to be yet again hosting one of the most influential jazz musicians in the world for the concert in October. As we promised when we launched Safaricom Jazz in 2014, we will keep bringing world-class talent for Kenyan jazz fans,” said Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore.

Proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to the Ghetto classics music program, which has been the Safaricom Jazz beneficiary since 2014 and has so far received an estimated 60 million shillings.

These funds have benefitted over 1,400 children from Nairobi and Mombasa. The proceeds from the 2018/2019 Edition will see the Ghetto Classics Schools programs extend to Kisumu.
