Huduma Centers will now operate in two shifts to enable longer working hours.

Public Affairs and Gender Cabinet Secretary Margaret Kobia on Monday introduced new working hours for the GPO and City Square Huduma Centres.

The shifts are set in such a way that the two centers will be in operation from 6.30 am to 7.00 pm on weekdays.

These changes, as was communicated, will be rolled out to other centers gradually.

Some of the services offered at Huduma centers are; replacement of ID’s, HELB clearance, NSSF and NHIF registration, issuance, and replacement of birth certificates and registration of business names among others. There are only specific services that will be offered during this period.

The first shift is set to run from 6.30 to1.30 pm while the second one will run from 1.00pm to 7.30pm with 30 minutes break to enable a smooth hand over from the first shift to the second.

The shifts will run from Monday to Friday. The shifts will enable flexible working hours for public servants at the centers.

The program will be on a three months’ pilot basis at City Square Huduma Centre and Teleposta Huduma Centre.

The CS challenged the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies who are adopting the shift system to facilitate their staff, ensure sufficient staff at their counters in line with optimal staff levels and provide required back-office support.
