DStv Eutelsat Star Awards Competition Kicks Off

The DStv Eutelsat Star Awards competition has kicked off. This is after a successful Ugandan edition.

The overall winner in the Ugandan Essay category, Amos Mumbere, as part of his prize, is expected to fly off to Paris and then head to French Guiana to witness the launch of a live satellite while the overall winner in the Poster category, Taher Rasheed, has been in South Africa as from 15th of July as a guest of Multi-Choice Africa and will not only visit the South African National Space Agency as part of his prize, but will also get to see heritage sites such Nelson Mandela’s former home in Soweto, the Constitution Hill and Soccer City among other places. 

The 8th edition competition is open to students aged from 14 to 19 years on the continent where Multi-Choice Africa maintains its operation.

To participate, the students are expected to submit their Essay or Poster to any of the Multi-Choice Office listed on their entry form.

The essay or poster should be on the following topic: “Currently, satellites are being used in a variety of ways but there is always room for expansion and growth. Write an essay or design a poster on areas you believe the full potential of satellites has not yet been tapped into or embraced.”

Entries are accepted in English, French, and Portuguese. They shall be judged on the basis of high-standard criteria of accuracy, creativity, originality, and innovation.

Entry forms can be obtained from any of the Multi-Choice Resource Centre, the nearest Multi-Choice office or via www.dstvstarawards.com.

Only entries submitted on the official entry form will be eligible.

The competition shall close on 12 October 2018 and overall winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in February 2019.
