Obama in Kenya to Launch Sauti Kuu Vocational Center

Former US president Barrack Obama who arrived in Kenya on Sunday has headed over to his ancestral home Kogelo, Siaya County to launch the Sauti Kuu Vocational Centre.

The Sauti Kuu Project is a project developed by his half-sister Dr. Auma Obama meant to transform the lives of young people from Kogelo Village and Siaya County at large by offering an opportunity to pursue various tertiary courses.

It also has various recreational facilities to help unlock the potential of local youth.

Upon his arrival on Sunday, Obama attended a meeting at State House in Nairobi with President Uhuru Kenyatta, his Deputy William Ruto, and his half-sister Dr. Auma Obama.

He has also held talks with opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Obama visited his grandmother Mama Sarah’s home at K’Ogelo Village in Siaya county before heading to the launch of the foundation.

After the launch, the former US President will head straight to South Africa where is scheduled to give a keynote address during celebrations to mark the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s birth.
