Your Twitter Followers are Going to Drop Soon as New Rules Are Set

Twitter has been making various changes on its policies including plucking from its platforms all the accounts regarded as ‘fake’ or ‘robots’ especially after the United States of America Presidential elections.
Of late, twitter has been blocking and suspending accounts that have been deemed to be violating its rules and guidelines although there have been complains that the social media platform has ended up suspending genuine accounts.
In the latest announcement, Twitter will begin removing locked accounts from user’s total follower counts, potentially causing these numbers to drop potentially for some online enthusiasts.
When one’s account becomes ‘locked’, he or she cannot access it unless through proving that he or she is not a ‘robot’ or through the change of the password.
Twitter ‘locks’ accounts when it detects a sudden and suspicious activity such as following many people at once, sending out tweets above the set limit or constantly sending out tweets with links leading to a false information.
In the new changes, all the locked accounts will be removed from other people’s follower counts for all twitter users globally.
The majority of twitter users around the world might lose an average of four followers but those with a higher following such as celebrities might see a significant drop in the number of their following with the changes set to take place as early as beginning this week.
“Follower counts are visible feature and we want everyone to have confidence that the numbers one has are meaningful and accurate,” said Twitter in a statement. “Over the years, we have locked accounts when we detected sudden changes in account behavior… this week, we will be removing these locked accounts from follower counts across profiles globally,” it added.
Twitter has been a powerful tool around the world that has been adopted by various businesses and individuals to push for businesses and their agendas.
