12 Dead Babies Found Stacked Together in Pumwani Maternity

An impromptu visit by the Nairobi Governor Sonko has led to the discovery of 12 dead babies stacked together in boxes at the Pumwani Maternity Hospital.

Announcing on his social media platforms, the Governor said that his unannounced visit to the facility had been called for by the public that accused the management of having shut down machines at the Maternity Wing leading to the death of the babies.

The Governor sternly stated that human life has to be respected and action will be taken against anyone found sabotaging the facility’s efforts of delivering services to expectant mothers.

The Governor’s post read:

“Conducting an impromptu visit at Pumwani Hospital, where it’s alleged by members of the public that the management shut down the machines at the Maternity Wing leading to loss of lives of young ones. I want to categorically state that human life must be respected no matter the case. Stern action will be taken against anyone found to be sabotaging the good services offered to our mothers and sisters who come to deliver in this facility.”

Pumwani Maternity has on numerous occasions hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons even being referred to as a ‘baby kiosk’ due to cases of babies going missing in the past. Numerous claims of abusive and hostile staff that harass mothers during delivery have also been on the limelight regularly.

The recent news continues to indicate that all is yet to be well at the facility with all eyes now focused on the facility’s management. The Governor has since suspended top officials in the facility which happens to be the largest maternity hospital in East Africa.
